Back to the Hocking Hills TAR HOLLOW STATE PARK near Lancaster,Ohio
Down the road To Tar Hollow past the ranger station and now we are at the spillway for the dam.
Sunlight on the dam and some stormy skies. How about a swim at the beach?
Might be a little cold for a swim. The stream right bottom carries water from the spillway. Ok, you have waited long enough, what is behind the dam?
Keeping with my theme of “lack of water” for Watery Wednesday the lake at Tar Hollow has been drained. In talking to the ranger I was told the entire beach area is being redone and improved. In lowering the level of the lake there was a problem with the “gate” that controls the water level, hence the whole lake was drained. (THIS WAS NEWS TO ME
So for next season there is going to be a completely redone beach and swimming area which sounds real good for MY WORLD
For today I’ll just do some climbing and 
I will follow the BLUE BLAZES on the Buckeye Trail

Interesting to see the lake's bottom. Once restored it must be a wonderful place to relax next summer.

Hi Joe, Looks like you had a big surprise when you got to the state park... No water in the lake, huh?????
Our state park did the same thing here a year or so ago. They were re-doing the old bridge ---so they drained the lake for awhile. It looked just like yours does!!!!! Surprise!!! BUT--now that the bridge is comopleted, it is all back to normal and looks great.
Tar Hollow looks like a neat place to hike also. We'll be there soon.

I'm guessin, with the water at its current level, the prohibition against flotation devices wouldn't present too great a problem...? :-P
Hi Joe, great photos, but that 'sunlight on the dam' is wonderful!
It's always a surprise to expect to see a body of water and find the water all gone! I remember visiting Washington, D.C. one year, and the Tidal Basin was empty! Your picture of sunshine hitting the dam is spectacular.
Joe: Hope that wasn't one of your fishing lakes that is unless you fish a lake downstream of this one. That will certainly hurt the lake fish population for a while.

Yep, that is a pretty empty lake. Hopefully it will fill back up for summer.It needed cleaned but it is too bad the gate stuck.
