A MY WORLD POST
The Winter Hike ( 45th ) in the Hocking Hills (about 30 minutes from Lancaster,Ohio) took place on Saturday Jan. 16th 2010 and consisted of a 6-mile trek from Old Man’s Cave to Ash Cave. At the mid point of the hike a stop at CEDAR FALLS. We were served bean soup, cornbread, and hot chocolate by the Logan Ohio Kiwanis Club. (THANKS)
( NEXT YEAR I’LL EXERCISE TO GET READY FOR A SIX MILE HIKE “DUH” )

I've been to the Hocking Hills several times and I love that area Joe! I would love to do the winter hike, but I tend not to stay outside in cold temps as much these days. Yep, I'm quite a sissy as I age. LOL I would have needed buckets of that hot chocolate.
Now I could probably do a hike along the beach with SMB...
FYI, I mentioned you in my newest blog post with a linkback to your blog. :-)
Nowthat is quite a winter hike. 5000+ peaople yes that is a lot of footsteps.
The beauty of the area is absolutely awesome.
Bean soup sounds good too. MB
It was about a perfect day day for the hike. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Should have been there last year lol
Sounds like a neat hike! There is something about eating outside that makes taste so delicious! And surprisingly, it does not look like you have all that much snow - I see bear ground here and there!
Oh, how beautiful, Joe! And what a fun hike! And, yes, I love eating outside, too! Terrific photos! Love the frozen water fall! Have a wonderful week!

This is such an awesome place to hike in winter.
Looks like a great place to hike!
Yes, I joined post crossing about 3 months ago have sent and received 20 postcards so far. I love it!
I do not think I have ever seen that many people hiking at one time. Is that a record or what?
Looks like a very popular hike. Must be fun walking with so many people. The scenery is awsome.
What a spectacular place to hike!
I'm guessin' the bean soup came at the end of the hike and not the beginning. ;-)
I love those day hikes. Great photos!
Sounds like a fun event, and your pictures are wonderful!
I enjoyed this. Nearby we have the Leatherman's Cave. His story is similar to your guy's cave. Very interesting.
Great post.
wow, it must be real fun!
Joe: Wonderful look at the Winter park, our Ohio mid January thaw doesn't look like it effected the woods as much as the yards. Those are wonderful photos.
Wow---that is totally awesome, Joe. Did you make it the entire six miles??? That's a long hike --in snow especially. If you did make it, I'll bet you found some aches and pains you had not had before.... ha
Great pictures... Love the icicles and the icy waterfall/cascades... WOW!!!

Wow! I don't think I could hike six miles in weather like that -- maybe in the spring. That's a lot of people doing it too. You guys are tough there in the Hocking Hills area ;>)
Wonderful place for hiking. Beautiful.
Thank you for taking us on that beautiful hike! In the snow it must have been great and beansoup is a real bonus.
Thanks for your visit, Joe! Some burglars are stupid, aren't they?!

Hope you enjoyed the hike Joe. the warm up made it pleasant and still left some beautiful ice formations. You got some great pictures.

Looks like you had a fun time!
That place looks amazing. Going on a winter hike there will be a unique experience. It is not everyday that you will see a frozen waterfall.
