THE TROUBLE TREE author unknown. PUT A TREE IN YOUR LIFE TODAY

A SPIRITUAL SCENIC SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY

In Ohio this year we have snow hanging on  tree limbs making an attempt to look like Spanish Moss.  (  LOL )

Probably, one of the more rewarding things I’ve done with my life is to have planted hundreds and hundreds of trees. Mostly pine, walnut, maple, and fruit trees. I’ve cut a few trees down also. One year I heated our home with a wood stove and a lot of firewood. There is something special about splitting wood and the smell of smoke in the air. On the snowy day I took this photo there was the smell of an upcoming storm and smoke in the air.

In a previous post I’ve talked about Ohio’s Gray/Grey skies. Let me ask you, “Is this next photo color or black&white?” ( Maybe Just HAUNTED )

Ok how about a splash of color

But, I am thinking Spring is right around the corner and then the “fruits” of Summer.

Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.John Muir

  2. I was thinking long and good thoughts about firewood this morning. Bringing in a big load of it from the woodshed is a satisfying and therapeutic way to move a muscle and change a thought.

Multi-faceted and beautiful post indeed, as Martha said.

  4. Though many of my trees are cedars, so prevalent on a sand prairie, they are still trees and are wonderful habitat...yes I'm a tree hugger and proud of it!!! Wonderful post!!!

I had to laugh at 'Our tax dollars at work'...my property borders a 4-lane highway and the trucks were out in full force plowing that INCH of snow we got last week...they went by so many times, it finally got me out of bed...hmmmm...

Have a wonderful weekend...spring is coming, I can feel it, even as we have more snow forecast!
    I'm a believer!

So hard to imagine snow. In the Pacific Northwest, we have had one of the mildest winters on record. Today it is sunny and 55 degrees!
    (Sorry to make you jealous).

  16. The winter scenes are nice, the shadow 'moss' beautiful. The cardinal ass life to this monochrome mix of branch and snow. Finally the wintertime shadows are nice, the artistry of winter...

  23. Wow---what a fabulous post, Joe... Where do I start??? Loved the Trouble Tree story...

Our area here has a rule that you cannot cut down any trees unless you get permission --- and then you have to replant trees to replace those you cut down. I love that rule --and we have many wooded areas up here.

We also love our fireplace --and use it all winter (and late fall and early spring). I couldn't live in a home without a fireplace I don't think.

Your snow pictures are great. I love the one with the Cardinal in it!!!

Spring WILL come... In fact, we are getting a big tease this week... Love the sunshine and warmer temps we are having.

Hope you have a great weekend and week ahead. We are headed to Arkansas tomorrow.

  26. I know that smell of smoke from a wood stove very well. I guess it's just one more thing that tells us how valuable trees are for us.

  27. I love trees to. Once I did a post about all the different patterns in the bark of trees. I hear you have lots of bears in your house. (soft toys not real ones). Birthday Bear has been out and about again.

  34. I could smell smoke in the air this week and it made me think of summer and I was excited! I thought how silly of me, but now I know you would get it! Love your peach tree. I have never heard that quote about the shade tree. That is neat. ~

  36. I loved this post. Soo different and interesting. The story at the beginning was a great way to look at things. I LOVE that song Smoke Gets in your eyes. My mom used to play it on the piano so I learned it as a young girl and it became one of my favorites. I soo enjoyed hearing it today, I haven't in soo long. Your pictures were wonderful. Welcome to Spiritual Sundays.
