WELCOME TO ROBBINS CROSSING IN SOUTHEASTERN OHIO

IN THE Appalachian foothills FOR THAT’S MY WORLD

FOLLOW RT.33 FROM LANCASTER,OHIO AND PASS BY LOGAN,OHIO AND YOU WILL SOON BE IN NELSONVILLE,OHIO. SOME OF THE BEAUTIFUL COUNTRYSIDE IS PART OF Wayne National Forest “The Wayne is located in the hills of southeastern Ohio.  The Forest is a patchwork ownership that covers over a quarter million acres of Appalachian foothills.”

I GOT AN EARLY START SO I’M GOING TO STOP AT ROCKY’S GEAR STOR FOR SOME BREAKFAST

ON WEEKENDS YOU CAN TAKE THE HOCKING VALLEY SCENIC RAILWAY TO ROBBINS CROSSING A HISTORIC VILLAGE AT HOCKING COLLEGE. Two trains depart every Saturday and Sunday at noon (14-mile trip to Haydenville) and 2:30pm (22-mile trip to Logan). (WITH A STOP AT ROBBINS)

MEET NORMAN FOX THE SITE MANAGER FOR ROBBINS CROSSING

DSC_0024 NORM WANTS EVERYONE TO KNOW, “WE ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC DURING THE WEEK AND ON WEEKENDS BETWEEN MEMORIAL DAY AND THE END OF OCT. HOURS ARE 11:00 A.M. TIL 5:00P.M.” NORM HAD JUST TAKEN STUDENTS FROM THE HOCKING COLLEGE SCHOOL OF NATURAL RESOURCES ON A TOUR. (FUTURE VOLUNTEERS) SO THE BUILDINGS WERE OPEN AND HE SAID I COULD LOOK AROUND. THANKS NORM.

NORM SAYS, “ HERE AT ROBBINS CROSSING MOST OF THE STRUCTURES HAVE BEEN PRESERVED FROM A TIME ( 1830-1880) WHEN THIS AREA WAS STILL AT THE EDGE OF THE FRONTIER.

  2. Great timing that you got to go inside all the buildings! Love the idea of the scenic railroad. It's about 10 years too late for the energy for the bike tour ;>). Still I love it when these paths are available.

  10. I love me them pictures! ...love old buildings. In the schoolhouse, something about the odd boards stuck up there to keep the weather out without concern over aesthetics . . . strikes me as just elementally beautiful. And look how it's LASTED!
