Emily Dickinson - The Lightning is a yellow Fork

“The Lightning is a yellow Fork
From Tables in the sky
By inadvertent fingers dropt
The awful Cutlery

Of mansions never quite disclosed
And never quite concealed
The Apparatus of the Dark
To ignorance revealed.”

  2. Lightning's gorgeous as long as 1) you're indoors and 2) it doesn't strike your house! Nice shot--and happy birthday.

  7. Fantastic photo! I know how hard it is to get good lightning shots, as I've only captured a handful despite many attempts.

  9. You know, Joe, we rarely get lightning here in western Oregon, and I miss it, but at least not having it makes life a little bit safer, and, of course, we rarely get tornadoes either. In fact, I've lived here since 1986, and I don't know that one has ever touched the ground, although one or two have been sighted in the air.
