A short drive from Lancaster,Ohio to Columbus,Ohio and the Ohio Fire Museum. A MY QUALITY TIME POST and A GREAT PLACE TO SPEND SOME QUALITY TIME.
JUST TRYING TO FIND SOME WORDS THAT RHYME WITH MUSEUM…LOL..
ANYWAY: THE CENTRAL OHIO FIRE MUSEUM & LEARNING CENTER
The Central Ohio Fire Museum and it's so much more than just a museum. There are artifacts and objects from days long past that showcase the early days of the station and city's history but the Learning Center is what really makes this place special….. I wonder if they are open……….
Located in the heart of Downtown Columbus 260 N. Fourth Street Columbus, Ohio 43215…………..
“Fire and Ice: Some say the world will end in fire,Some say in ice.”
“From what I've tasted of desire.I hold with those who favor fire.”
“But if it had to perish twice,I think I know enough of hate”….THE STATION BEFORE RENOVATION
“To say that for destruction ice Is also great
And would suffice.” Robert Frost… NOW A LOOK INSIDE THE BELL TOWER
You can’t store a fire hose if it’s wet so they would hang them in the bell tower to dry.
The photo on the right shows where the horses kicked the door.
Central Ohio paranormal research group was given the privilege of being the
first paranormal team to investigate engine house #16 Click to find out what they found
Depicts the fire at the old Ohio pen on April 21,1930…A fire at an Ohio prison kills 320 inmates
Now:: The Lancaster,Ohio Connection::
A specific area has been put aside for the “kids” to have some hands on experience: “In the play area kids can:: Slide the fire pole and respond to a fire..Dress up in a fire coat, boots and helmet..Drive a real fire truck with lights and siren..Put out the mural fire with a real fire hose.”
With all the bells,whistles,and lights.
Maybe a future firefighter of America.
A LITTLE HISTORY::The first Roman fire brigade of which we have any substantial history was created by Marcus Licinius Crassus. Marcus Licinius Crassus was born into a wealthy Roman family around the year 115 BC, and acquired an enormous fortune through (in the words of Plutarch) "fire and rapine." One of his most lucrative schemes took advantage of the fact that Rome had no fire department. Crassus filled this void by creating his own brigade—500 men strong. CLICK to find out the interesting way he made money on this “scheme”
HARD AT WORK
DID YOU KNOW::Thanks to the matchless (NO PUN INTENDED) leadership of Benjamin Franklin, the dire fear of fires expired in Philadelphia which became one of safest city's in the world in terms of fire damage.CLICK to read more.
All men are created equal, then a few become firemen.
If you think it's tough being a firefighter, try being a firefighter's wife.
You might be a firefighter if "climbing the corporate ladder" has nothing to do with career advancement.
You know you're a firefighter when you really think that rusty old hydrant looks good in the garden. (never thought of that)

A fireman doesn't preach the brotherhood of man.He lives it.
Firefighting - one of the few professions left that still makes house calls.
Real life learning in the “LEARNING CENTER”..
You will be able to walk through actual burned rooms.View a full size childs’s bedroom, shown during and after a fire. (smells like smoke). No photos of learning center in this post. You will just have to go to the museum yourself.
Thanks for stopping by and remember:Have cognition before ignition.
Have you ever read about Mose the fireman? Click on the photo …Might be for kids but I enjoyed the tale/tales myself. If your really interested and want to read for free CLICK

Thanks for the tour Joe! Neat place. I had to go through the post twice -- once to enjoy the post itself and again to admire what you've done with photo editing. S
Words which rhyme with museum? try asking a Korean peon or maybe a European plebian :)

You do an amazing job putting your posts together, and they are so interesting! I tried to comment on your mining post but my computer was acting up and I had to finally give up. This was a great post. I would love to visit the museum some time. Thanks for sharing all the great info! I have a lot of respect for fire-fighters!
