Frost is the solid deposition of water vapor from saturated air. It is formed when solid surfaces are cooled to below the dew point of the adjacent air as well as below the freezing point of water. CLICK to read more.
The first few photos were taken on the back deck of my house in Lancaster,Ohio on the morning of 3/01/2011. This year we have had quite a warm spell..like in the 80’s last week.

I love Robert Frost. I do NOT like frost frost, but your pictures are lovely. We saw places in Vermont where he had lived....thanks for the quotes and the reminder to read some Frost tomorrow.

Hi Jo! Wonderful post! I love the ice crystals photographs and the pics on Mt. Washington! The quotes by Robert Frost were also very good. He and Carl Sandburg and Mark Twain...they could all make a point in a few words! Very nice!

Beautiful captures of the frost!! I think my favourite is the shot of the chain link fence!!
And thank you for the quotations - the first one strikes a chord for me. A dear friend passed away on Saturday (at the age of 103), and I appreciate the sentiment.
My one and only poet, and poem,
