SNAKE RIDGE LOOKOUT TOWER
Have you ever driven past a building dozens of times and said to yourself, “I’ve got to stop there someday.” Between Nelsonville,Ohio and Athens,Ohio on Rt. 33 in the Hocking Hills you have the headquarters of the Wayne National Forest. After viewing this post I hope you can say,”I’ve been there.”
“Welcome to the Wayne National Forest located in the hills of southeastern Ohio. The Forest is a patchwork ownership that covers over a quarter million acres of Appalachian foothills. The Forest is divided into three blocks managed out of two Ranger District offices located in Nelsonville and Ironton with a field office in Marietta.
The Forest has over 300 miles of trails for hiking, all-terrain vehicle riding, mountain biking, or horseback riding in season. The trails are open from April 15th through December 15th. Come visit the Wayne and hike or ride our trails!” To read more and go to there websites CLICK or CLICK.
I was hoping I could climb this lookout tower but::

Of course Smokey The Bear
The good news is::
Let’s take a look out back.
Why did Smokey the Bear never have children?
Because every time his wife got hot, he hit her with a shovel.
Look at those solar panels
Spend the night in a fire tower lookout and wake up to some of the most ... CLICK ( Another “Some Day”)
Thanks for stopping by.. While doing a little research for this post I found another Lookout Tower I could climb in Vinton County Ohio.. Maybe next week…
Wayne National forest does cover a lot of area. We came a past that building on our way back from Virginia. I guess we should have stopped.
ReplyDeleteLooks like an amazing place to visit! A place where you could spend days, even weeks and keep discovering things! Glad you went to the Visitor Center and gave us a peek at all that National Forest has to offer! Love the Smokey Bear joke too! :-)
ReplyDeleteThat tower is a few hundred too many steps for my vertigo to cope with I reckon :)
