A sundog at Great dunes Beach Jekyll Island Georgia.
Sundogs can be blindingly bright, at other times they are a mere colored smudge on the sky. If you are interested in the science of Sundogs READ MORE

Several tales of the appearance of sundogs have existed in popular culture. Some say a sundog brings good luck when spotted on a long journey, others say it will bring a radical change in weather conditions, such as rain.
A birds eye view of the sky.
Sometimes you can’t see the sky if you are under a Georgia oak. LOL..

Hi Joe, We get sun dogs here at altitude sometimes - in frigid weather, they're caused by ice particles in the atmosphere. I doubt that's the case there in Georgia! Pretty beach scenes.
ReplyDeleteAwesome sky shots and informative post for SWF ~ xoxo

ReplyDeleteBeautiful post Joe... this is a place we missed and have talked about heading that way during our seasons in FL, but even when we camped from there up the east coast we missed it somehow. Maybe someday.
ReplyDeleteWonderful cloud formation in the sky.
ReplyDeleteI always get a thrill when I see a sun-dog, once saw three of them surrounding a setting sun. It just means there are ice crystals in the upper atmosphere to refract the sun's rays. I believe it is possible to have eight of them surrounding the sun although that is very rare as normally they appear when the sun in low in the sky.
ReplyDeleteLove your sundog captures!
