A Quality Time “Wandering” at Virginia’s most historic plantation. (Part of our trip to Williamsburg & Jamestown)
This is the site of the first Thanksgiving, the place where "Taps" was written and played, the site of the first commercial shipyard, and many other things. History buffs & non history buffs will enjoy.
All of the first 10 presidents have stepped foot inside this building. President Harrison lived inside this building. A signer of the Declaration of Independence lived inside this building. (Note: entrance to the basement museum.The museum is small but worth seeing.)

This Georgian mansion built in 1726 occupies a beautiful site overlooking the James River.
In this graveyard is buried Col. Benjamin Harrison V. Dec. 13, 1730- Apr. 24 1791. Signer of the Declaration Of Independence
Benjamin Harrison IV built on the estate what is believed to be the oldest three-story brick mansion in Virginia and is the ancestral home to two Presidents of the United States: William Henry Harrison, his grandson, and Benjamin Harrison his great-great-grandson. READ MORE
If visiting one needs to remember, “Berkeley Plantation is real, not a Disney recreation.”
Linda and I did not have lunch at this tavern though we went inside and looked around.
You may or may not know, I’m always hungry. So for lunch..
A great place to eat..Learn More.. The tavern is located halfway between Richmond and Williamsburg. (about 25 miles from each city)

What a grand house!
This is such a wonderfully historical part of our country, and this site was full of interesting facts! I did not know there was an 11 year old Medal of Honor recipient!
Cool visit, Thanks for sharing it. My daughter and I visited Parliament Hill, where they were doing a couple of shows. The troops were amazing!
