A sentimental longing or wistful affection for the past, typically for a period or place with happy personal associations.

"I was overcome with acute nostalgia for my days in college"

"a nostalgia for traditional values"
“The times you lived through, the people you shared those times with — nothing brings it all to life like an old mix tape. It does a better job of storing up memories than actual brain tissue can do. Every mix tape tells a story. Put them together, and they can add up to the story of a life.” ― Rob Sheffield
“There are a few moments in your life when you are truly and completely happy, and you remember to give thanks. Even as it happens you are nostalgic for the moment, you are tucking it away in your scrapbook.” ― David Benioff
“I felt a pang -- a strange and inexplicable pang that I had never felt before.
It was homesickness.
Now, even more than I had earlier when I'd first glimpsed it, I longed to be transported into that quiet little landscape, to walk up the path, to take a key from my pocket and open the cottage door, to sit down by the fireplace, to wrap my arms around myself, and to stay there forever and ever.” ― Alan Bradley,

Neat stuff Joe! The Baez and Dylan songs and all those wonderful old TV shows, we grew up in a great time my friend. Tom The Backroads Traveller
I did enjoy this post so much...mixed tapes do bring back a lot of memories. But I tell you, the older I get, the more the sense of smell comes into play. I smell certain smells and am instantly transported to another place and time. How I wish I could bottle them to open up at any time.
What a treasure trove you have shared!!!
Joe, you've never done a better post in my opinion. I wonder how many young and middle-aged adults could even identity the people in the picture and the videos.
Thanks for all the comments everyone. I keep listening to Joan Baez over and over.. All the memories..
HopAlong Cassidy! Roy Rogers and Dale Evans! And is that Joe Todd at the end? Goodness, all these famous (old?) people in one post. I do want to listen to the folk songs too, and I'll come back and do so when I can). Lovely post -- the trick is living in today while still remembering and honoring the past!
Great post!
