Head Harbour Lighthouse..Campobello Island  (part of New Brunswick, is only 12 km away from Maine's coast).

After a good nights sleep we are going on a short hike (at low tide) to Head Harbour Lighthouse..

“Campobello Island is an island located at the entrance to Passamaquoddy Bay, adjacent to the entrance to Cobscook Bay, and within the Bay of Fundy. The island is one of the Fundy Islands and is part of Charlotte County, New Brunswick, Canada.”

First, stop for a little breakfast and supplies.

Make sure to wear good hiking shoes and watch your step… SLIPPERY

Hold on tight to the railing.

“The Head Harbour lightstation is about two and a half miles from the nearest community, Wilson's Beach. The rocky outcropping on which the station is set becomes an island at high tide and is connected with the main body of the island by more of these rocky quasi- islands. A road from Wilson's Beach runs to a spot within walking distance of the lightstation. Beyond that point, the station is accessible by foot at low tide.” READ MORE

“Iconic lighthouse that is only accessible by foot at low tide. Even at high tide the visit here is worth it to see sweeping views of Passamaquoddy Bay with it whales, seals, eagles, and boats. A great place to have a picnic lunch…Bring your Binoculars”

Time to head back.. “Walk on ocean floor to gorgeous lighthouse What a blast! Hiked over black seaweed, ocean rocks, sand and a few foreboding staircase-ladders all the way to the lighthouse. Cost $5 US, and worth every penny to keep the site beautiful.” Ok to donate a little more to help with upkeep… Just Saying…..

Proceed at your own risk. Beach exposed only at low tide. Incoming tide rises five feet per hour, and may leave you stranded for eight hours. Wading or swimming is extremely dangerous due to cold water and swift currents..Danger Danger Danger……..Just use common sense.

While the priest was presenting a children's sermon before the whole congregation. He asked the children if they knew what the Resurrection was. Asking questions during children's sermons is crucial, but at the same time, asking children questions in front of a congregation can also be very dangerous. Garden/Tomato/Update/ An Ohio Garden Post……

I had great hopes for Mountain Merit Hybrid Tomato. The determinate, compact plants offer superb resistance to multiple diseases common to home grown tomatoes, including resistance to Fusarium 123, Verticillum, TSWV and Late Blight.  NOT MUCH GOOD IF YOU HAVE EARLY BLIGHT.

Even with extreme pruning….


This raised bed by the garden shed is one of three planting areas for tomatoes… Next year beans will be planted here.. no more tomatoes in this area.
And, another problem is my friends:::
These guys pretty much live in my backyard and my neighbors.. All vegetable plants not fenced or on the deck were totally eaten by the deer.. Also, some damage to the fenced tomato plants..

Look closely, see where the deer have “trimmed” the plants.

One more tomato planting area that seems to be working out pretty well.

In the past this has been a “leaf blight” problem area so I tried something a little different.

The entire area is covered with weed control fabric. The planting area is between 4x4 timbers spaced about 10 inches apart. Brought in bagged garden soil to plant the tomatoes in. So far no leaf blight. Also sprayed these with aspirin solution to help with the blight. A different variety of tomatoes.. Amish Paste…

The pepper plants seem to be doing ok.

I had several extra tomato plants so I put them in pots on the deck.



These plants are all looking good.
In the front of the house one summer squash plant the deer haven’t found..

Last but not least::: Linda and I have been eating Red Raspberries for the past month and have frozen several quarts.. Check the price for red raspberries at the grocery store…wow….
