Art and Money::: “Money. It is a simple fact of everyday life, as well as, a fundamental principal of our social, political, and economic order. It is a medium of exchange, an index and store of value, and a universal equivalent into which most anything can dissolve. It connects, defines, and divides nations. It is pocket change and dead presidents. It is the key to happiness and the root of all evil. It has no intrinsic value apart from what we’ve given it. Money is an idea, a social contract, and one that depends on frequently-tested collective emotional states like trust, faith, and confidence.” Read More

Brain Transplant::::

DSC_0090

In the hospital the relatives gathered in the waiting room, where their family member lay gravely ill.

DSC_0105

Finally, the doctor came in looking tired and somber. I’m afraid I’m the bearer of bad news,’ he said as he surveyed the worried faces. ‘The only hope left for your loved one at this time is a brain transplant.

DSC_0092

It’s an experimental procedure, semi-risky and you will have to pay for the brain yourselves.’

DSC_0102

The family members sat silent as they absorbed the news. After a great length of time, someone asked, ‘Well, how much does a brain cost?’

DSC_0110 The Doctor quickly responded, ‘25,000 for a male brain, and 3,000 for a female brain.’

The moment turned awkward. Men in the room tried not to smile, avoiding eye contact with the women, but some actually smirked.

DSC_0164

A man, unable to control his curiosity, blurted out the question everyone wanted to ask, ‘Why is the male brain so much more?’

The doctor smiled at the childish innocence and said to the entire group, ‘It’s just standard pricing procedure.

DSC_0169

We have to mark down the price of the female brains, because they’ve actually been used.’

“The times you lived through, the people you shared those times with — nothing brings it all to life like an old mix tape. It does a better job of storing up memories than actual brain tissue can do. Every mix tape tells a story. Put them together, and they can add up to the story of a life.” ― Rob Sheffield

“There are a few moments in your life when you are truly and completely happy, and you remember to give thanks. Even as it happens you are nostalgic for the moment, you are tucking it away in your scrapbook.” ― David Benioff

“I felt a pang -- a strange and inexplicable pang that I had never felt before.
It was homesickness.
Now, even more than I had earlier when I'd first glimpsed it, I longed to be transported into that quiet little landscape, to walk up the path, to take a key from my pocket and open the cottage door, to sit down by the fireplace, to wrap my arms around myself, and to stay there forever and ever.” ― Alan Bradley,
